Scarlett Ruby Hancock

This sweet little peanut joined our family on February 6, 2011. She weighed a mere 6 pounds 3 ounces, 18 inches long. Girly was sporting a full head of dark hair. I swore to Todd I was gonna have a ten pound baby, girly could kick! Now that she is 7 months, we know it completely fits her little personality...she is a mover and a shaker! Little birth story... Sunday morning Todd and I head to the hospital to be induced. I went on my own with Mykah but with Scarlett I was ready and my Dr was willing to induce. I took it! We get checked in and hooked up to the meds at about 8:30. Things began to progress really slow and at about 11 I was only at 5 cm. Well when our family gets to a six we are done:) So when the Dr thought I would be a while and left me at a 6. The nurse came back in and I "felt" the involuntary pushing and asked her to check...she wouldn't let me move and ran out to get the Dr. It was a little after 12 when he came in and two pushes later we got our sweet little girl. She has been a dream baby. Scarlett is so content and happy all the time, she is also an amazing sleeper...so nice! I love being a mom to these two sweet little girls and Todd is an amazing father and they completely adore him. It is definitely a condensed version but hey better late than never!

Baby S,

Here are all our happenings for the past few days....... Your Sister has gotten very clingy these last few weeks to .... YOUR DADDY! I am sure you will adore him just as much as she does. Part of your unfinished room.... Your Sister was a big helper in fixing up your room. She was so excited to put your little diapers in the bin, and help paint :) (I borrowed things from sisters room for yours..I am not sure where we will be in a year and so I would rather fix up and decorate BOTH your rooms later when I know we will be somewhere more permanent!) haha

Whenever I feel like I am gonna be pregnant forever I sneak into your room and look at all your Girly things and get soooo excited....

Picture taken by your little sister I was ordered:'Mom, Look SURPRISED!' All the other pictures she took were of doors, walls and ceilings.....

As for other news we went to the Dr on Monday and I am dilated to 1cm and 70% effaced. Meaning well pretty much nothing! Monday night though the baby dropped a TON. It was pretty cool cause I never could tell with Mykah and with this baby I most definitely could feel her way lower. The Dr talked about inducing me on Feb 2ND. He said he was worried with us only being in the hospital 3 1/2 hrs before we had Mykah. At first I was against it but after thinking it over with Todd we both decided that it may be a good choice for us. Being that all our family is out of state and my body showing signs of labor we don't feel its going to put me or baby at risk.
If we were in AZ I would be saying 'no way' just an FYI.

We missed AZ temple lights this year, but I have ALWAYS loved the SLC temple. It is one of my faves! Living here has a few perks...eh? The night we went it was FREEZING! Like I think Utah was have record breaking lows...or it felt like it to me!! I am not sure I will ever get use to this cold!

Last well actually first but who cares.. Roo and I sprinkling magic reindeer food in the lawn (aka oats with hairspray and glitter along with a dash of Christmas sprinkles. Lucky reindeer!) Also dont mind my chubby cheeks....This little girly is gonna be soooo worth it! But DO notice how my shoes are sinking into the snow BRRRR

Favorite part of the day: Roo in disbelief that Santa REALLY did eat the cookies and milk. Along with our yummy christmas day feast! That put all of us in a mad food coma! Merry Christmas

Wow! I cannot believe all the snow we have been pounded with...

Its madness!

Lots of snow outside means lots of mess inside. I will take heat over snow any day! Swimming does not lead to constant house cleaning, just pretty tanned skin. :) For now it is very pretty and makes Christmas feel that much more magical. This is the girly getting her 'snow' time so I am more sane and she gets worn out(fingers crossed) hopefully. Other than snow time we have well I have been nesting.. headband making, baby laundry doing, all sorts of getting ready for this girly stuff. Man oh man I forgot how good baby laundry smells. Oh and newborn diapers, really are they (the babes) that small??? EEEkk! Ahhhh makes me want her here now! (almost)If only I could finish her room up we would be ready. Guess its time to wrap up my projects and get ready for the best holiday ever...

P.S. snow makes for rad family night movies with hot coco
And FYI we got like a foot more of the powder this morning.....

Some days I feel like I have ADD. No really, I bounce from one project to the next rarely getting back to finish what I started. So I made a rule for myself of not starting something else till I finish what I had started first. Good rule uh? Now I guess I better follow it, I mean seeing how I put it on my blog and all? Really though, I think the end of a pregnancy can do some crazy things to your brain. For example my 'To Do' list that started out simple and now has like 20 things on it.

Top 5

-Baby 'S' 's nursery(finally came up with a color scheme..whew!)

-Mykah's room (finish it up)

-Kitchen (put together, reorganize)

-HEADBANDS..... Lots and some sparkly bracelets for Mykah and Baby S

-Finish Christmas shopping and mail off packages

Notice how Christmas is next week and its on the bottom of the list? Nice, good to see I am prioritizing!

P.S. TJmaxx(love that store) has the softest bath mats for cheap!(I really wanted one!) and Target has the best red icees :)

I am in major nesting phase. Clean, organize, and put together every room phase is more like it! Only I am a complicated girl and I am making things hard on myself because I LIKE NO COLORS! I want a white nursery with touches of brown(crib) and cream with TONS of texture and glam. I would like a simple unfussy room for this baby that can be combined later on with Mykah's. Oh and I am on a mad tight budget! SO here are a few ideas I found that I really like... I LOVE the ties on the top of these curtains... darling maybe a DYI? *Help mom??

I like how clean this nursery feels. Plus, I have a wicker chair like this one that is already painted silver.

And I will take this striped chair please! Maybe just incorporate the pattern in the room? Also those darling butterfly shades.. So cute and SO me! Maybe I can make some?

You mean its a messy idea to let you 2 year old (and her dollies) help you make pizza dough? Uh, I would have never guessed! You cant even see how much flour got on her or the floor seeing how she is wearing white and so is the floor. After all our fun happinings,me and the swiffer are like 'this' (imagine fingers crossed) as of lately. But gosh the girl loves to cook and practice makes perfect.. rrrright?

I have seen so many cute advent calenders done and thought I would attempt to make one. Mykah was a great little helper. She did an awesome job glittering the envelopes, so good that my kitchen floor was glittered just as good. It was pretty rad all those sparkles in our house.... Anyway she saw these cute little 'birdies' at the craft store and we threw some of those in and the leftovers on our real tree..hehe I had some leftover rhinestones and threw some in the branches for fun and a little more sparkle... Look closer and you will see our little branch/tree is anchored in RICE... sweet eh? It was a fun little afternoon project short and sweet and really messy! Just the kind of project we like!

P.S. We filled the envelopes with little activity's to do each day, a random chocolate square here and there and a few little toys we snagged in the dollar section at walmart. We are so excited for christmas! (mainly cuz it means I am that much closer to meeting unnamed baby girl..:)

Today I am grateful for two little girls and since I keep it real....

'one' of the girls has been a stinker like NO OTHER the past two days....

AND ONE is giving me a ghetto booty! I will let you put the pieces together :0)

But really I am truly grateful for both of them, especially because at one point I thought I would never have kids of my own. That is what I remind myself when things get hairy as they often do in motherhood. Cant wait to meet this little baby girl!

I was asked for a good part of the morning to let her go out and play in the snow. I finally caved and figured she would only play for like 5 minutes max. Not so, she was out there for at least an half hour just stomping up and down the driveway. Pleased as punch she finally got out of the house.

Till she found a icky yucky bug. Ah girls! I was told to "go ahead, go kill it momma. I will wait here."

See my massive belly? Ten weeks left thank you, and I went back Blonde! I needed a little change-me-upper!

Anywhoo, I absolutely love L.O.V.E. this time of year, especially seeing how we get to spend it in REAL snow! I am so gonna be a legend when we move back to AZ. Ha ha! Ya if only it were that easy! I am dying with this cold and its not even 'winter' yet! I miss the good ole AZ sun... But really even I cant be grumpy with snow when it makes everything look so darn pretty. Mykah loves all the snow and gets so excited to run out and play in it any chance she gets! Funny girl. Sooo not my child, Totally Todd's :)

We were lucky to be able to go down to AZ for Thanksgiving. Mykah was a trooper the drive down and back up, me well I could have not done the 15 hrs it took us to get back home due to the snow.To say the least we will be staying put till march..wink*wink* Happy Friday!

Halloween Decorations!

Spooky vase fillers! Yep that's 'eye of newt'.. Mykah loves it! We had fun getting spooky this year! OK I cant lie and I totally have to give props where it is due! I totally stole the idea for the tags from houseofsmiths.blogspot.com (Chris u would LOVE her site!)and while I was there I loved her tutorial on the Ballard inspired shelves.... So we made em! (ask me how cheap they were!)See above.. granted my execution is not as rad as hers but hey I am still rebounding!! lol These will have to do!

Last year Mykah had baby white pumpkins in her bedroom and LOVED em. So I decided to try and do it every year. I LOVE white pumpkins... And I love that Mykah feels special having her 'own' pumpkins!
P.s. my pics were supposed to be after my post. How horrid am i for not fixing it! ;)

Longtime no post. Been super crazy around here. Ya right, I just put off blogging till the next day, and till the next, and yada yada. We had a fun AZ trip that I took NOT ONE picture while I was there. It was so fun to go back and realize how MUCH i miss my home! Even if flying was a little more umm nausea inducing than i previously had remembered :) The day we got home I thought 'How am I going to live in Utah and like it?' I tried not to cry the whole day because I missed my family SOOO much. Well I am happy to report I don't hate Utah, I am trying to be positive and enjoy my time here.. and hopefully we will be in AZ before i know it! After all Utah is having an actual "fall" right now!! Leaves are changing PEOPLE!! Everyday Mykah and i go for walks to enjoy the weather and check out the tight Halloween decorations... man my hood can decorate! Totally kidding! So until I get back in the swing of blogging here is our happenings!

Today was one of those days. I seem to have had a lot of those the last few months...cough cough.

The kind were PJ's (i only wish i looked so cute with bead head as her!) and bed head are an all day happening. Where when I do feel good its just enough to clean up whats been neglected for the past days and start to get caught up only to have another day sneak up on me. I am 17 weeks and feel more of it slipping away so I hope to catch up on all my neglected housewifey things. For now its PJ's, parks, simple dinners, and a bubble bath almost every night... And this weather! I am dying at how cool it feels up here! I am so excited for fall and the weather is gorgeous! The other day Roo and I went to Michael's aka "the pumpkin store" and checked out all the cute decorations. I always seem to love the ones that remind me of the ones I had when I was little, the cute vintage/nostalgic type..love em. And every year I seem to gravitate towards a theme. This year I am loving the natural elements of fall(more organic) and LOVING the basic orange and black with a bit of purple in the mix and all the glitter! SO fun! Of course my personality is to love two things that are polar opposites! Wish me luck in the execution! Now onto the random food pic. PUFFED FRENCH TOAST! aka doughnuts for dinner! SO yummy! We made a few alterations. I used wheat/white bread, and we added strawberries. I also omitted the 'canola' oil and used grape seed oil. It was pretty much like a cross between Jack in the box FT sticks and a krispy kreme doughnut! Go to Ourbestbites.com they have a trillon other yummy recipes. Try their Black Bean soup while your at it! Its the best!

Let the countdown commence! 17 more days till i get to go home! Well back to Arizona so technically not my home now... I am stoked! LIKE SUPER SUPER STOKED! I have lots to do before I leave...eek I better get shakin.

* Repaint frames for Mykahs room...(pics will be up when I am finished with her room..)

* Paint TV stand black

* Get Halloween box out! (not decorated yet, just out.)

* Finish Burlap table runner (so fun for fall! I love the texture of burlap..So excited to get decorating for the holidays!)

* Eat pasta salad (yes, the one mentioned above. I ate it for lunch today and I got an extra for dinner ;)

* Finish putting together house in general.... Plus all the norm, dishes, laundry, oh if only you could really do everything consecutively. It would all be so easy! Ya know without the mom, read me 'Pingo'. 'mom, can we make cookies. mom, can we go hunt frogs...lol I am a sucker for that cute girl though and always fold. My list will be there tomorrow.

Oh and p.s. Todd stained my table(the one a few post back) a chocolate brown! Yep it looks GREAT! Now i just gotta finish my burlap runner and get my chair covers in and....It will be all ready to decorate with glittery pumpkins for fall! Oh, how I LOVE fall...ahhh and I will actually have one living here in Utah! Hey I gotta find something to be happy about up here!

Isabella Oliver Ruched Pencil skirt $115. So gorgeous, so simple. Lets talk about the length here, long enough to cover up 'g's' even when chasing after Mykah. Plus super Hot! Todd loves pencil skirts, Plus all there maternity line is designed to last your whole 9 months. Bonus! Any one who knows me knows I would wear this like all the time!! But I so cant get over the price and for that its on my 'wish list' aka never gonna happen.

Well we had an exciting weekend... Mykah and I drove up to Salt Lake to meet Amy, and then we followed her up to Logan. About an hour after getting there I discovered I had Todd's car keys in my purse. So instead of going to Bear Lake we spent the night in Logan and went home early in the morning. It was so fun to see Amy and the crew. Mykah and Dax played and played.. we even fit in some swimming while Amy and I caught up. Man I miss my FAMILY. So now here we are at home. Tuesdays..BLAH. I thought I would show Mykah's new bed. Seeing how sleeping on a mattress on the floor was not cutting it with all these spiders! So after searching craigslist and KSL day after day and not finding anything under 100 that I liked, I finally gave up and got this bed from Ikea. It was super cheap and no fuss. The color, well one day I will spray paint it a silver color but for now I am leaving it black. As you can see I still have a ton of ';putting' together to do..like a bed skirt..lol (p.s. I love how she shoves her babies behind the bed...) We did pull out our TV stand and spray painted in 'Ivy Leaf' green...yucky. It was horrid! I wanted to give up and buy a new one. Then reality hit and I realized I would have to fix it! So i mixed some paint and gave it a few coats.. while my hair got dipped too! Don't worry Christy I wont cut it out! Although I am tempted it is all hard and crusty...yucky. Hopefully our TV stand will last a wee bit longer! See typical Tuesday stuff......

Lets clarify, Yes that's a bright flash. Yes I have my 'other' shirt pulled up, and if you squint and look real close I have on an ugly concentrating face. OK? It coulda been worse.. like I could of exposed my belly....BARE!(gasp) But that would be UN modest and UN lady like..
I am 12.5 Weeks? We go into the Dr on the 6th, so excited!
We went to the mall with Nat to look for some ""missionary" clothes for her and we had fun while Mykah kinda ran wild. All the fun was ruined when I walk in my house and I spy a fat SPIDER on my COUCH! EEEKK! I HATE spiders. I would rather deal with roaches! The couch was my safe place from them.. Which I have two safe places... Roos bed and the couches. For some reason I have OCD about spiders and have to find spider-proof places I also have to pull furniture away from walls and spray raid nightly. Yuck we are calling a bug man. Little devils I do not know how they get in!!! So when I put Mykah down for a nap and she looked all cute and snuggly.. I got in beside her and cuddled that little lovey because life is short and I am safe from spiders in her bed. Happy Friday!

L-this pics for you.. hhhmmm interesting! The weather here is like fall in Gilbert. Its getting me all confused! Its also really gray out and I could really use some AZ sunshine to get me motivated for the day. I have yet to shower...ugh. I guess I better get moving I mean even mykah has had a shower and is all dressed for the day ;) Last night as I was mixing some salts for mykahs bath and adding so EO, I poured in some orange EO and it reminded me of AZ. I never knew that the smell of oranges would remind me so much of winters back home. I have so many good memories of going to the Orange Patch with my mom when we were little. She would load up me and Curtie and take us on the long drive there. Well really it was not too far but when your little you think 20 mins in the car is long :) We would get there and see the little shop and the groves surrounding it and you could smell the oranges...aaahhh We would go in and see piles and piles of citrus and fun little shelves of trinkets.. It seemed we always went before Christmas so it reminds me of that as well, how we would spend forever telling my mom what we wanted for Christmas..we were boogers! When it came time to check out and pay for our boxes of citrus Curtie and I would beg and beg for a piece of rock candy(which we got) and we would leave happy. I loved that Orange Patch. It makes me realize how much I took living in AZ for granted. All the things I did not go to or did not see. Up here we always want to get out of the house so we go 'exploring' and find fun new things. When we move back I vow to 'explore' more! Promise. Now to go shower and work on my house a bit and squeeze in some snuggle time with little lovey. Belly pic tomorrow....(mom 4 u) love u.

The condition on my table. It was a darling white when we got it for Christmas a while back. A few moves later and one wild animal with artistic tools of crayons and markers and such... well it has suffered some "damages". Now its time for an update. I cannot pick a color! I have thought a light teal, yellow, green... I love colors. But, I always tend to pick colors when really I am a neutral girl when it comes to my home. Loads of white, brown, black, carmels, you get the idea. I like my color switch-out-able. A table is not switch-out-able. My cushions are white with velvet black damask...so they don't need to match just make sense. Any ideas? (excuse the bad lighting and my freshly bathed wild haired beauty.)

On a side note is it almost fall?

(enjoy this little gem I had on my comp.. curtie and roo;)Ok so its not REALLY a newsflash. Mykah just has watched the same Backyardagin episode OVER and OVER and OVER....ah(long sigh). Well I figured I better do a new post so people don't begin to think I am really as depressing as my last post!! Plus I am finally feeling better!! aka not sick all day! Just one sick spell usually and normally its in the evenings. I have a new found empathy for people that get uber sick while pregnant. UGH!! I was not this sick with Mykah, at least NOT that I remember... But that was like ten years ago! :) One last pregnant update(for my fam) its true what they say about showing sooner, I am only 11 1/2 wks and I look like I did with Myk at 3 months..eek, Luckily no weight gain yet!!, I miss family dinners. I never realized how much work goes into a FULL meal! Last night we made our own lil fam dinner. Todd made some orange roughy(which I found out is horrid to eat...HIGH in mercury..hint hint my roughy eatin friend who shall not be named!) I made salad, mashed potatoes and Rhodes rolls(yum). It was a yummy dinner but man the dishes. Oh the dishes!! haha We may come back to AZ better cooks and a Little more appreciative for family. We had a great Sunday and we really love our ward and I cant believe I am saying this sooo soon.. but I feel blessed. I am trying really hard to make the best of this situation. Anyone who knows me knows how much my family means to me. I know that Utah is where we need to be(for now) and I am blessed for a sweet husband and darling daughter, and our good health and this sweet little baby that is coming in February. So I will focus on the good things in my life and make the best of it. So I really like the blogs that do a picture a day so I am going to TRY to do that on our blog. Hopefully I will follow through and spruce my blog up a bit along the way! Lots of room puttin together to do so I am off! Maybe some before and afters???

Well I guess its time to update... Plus since we moved to Utah,we are having super fun and are wicked crazy busy!! (sarcasm) No I want all our friends and family to stay updated on our 'Utah happenings.' My family came up for the fourth and we had our own little fireworks show.. Mykah LOVED fireworks...a little too much! There is her and Todd setting off a smoke bomb and Lauren being a chicken and running away.. haha kidding L! We were glad to have some company and had fun while they were here! The other day I put on Mykahs suit and let her run through the sprinklers, she insisted on doing a little dance while I tried to snap some pics..haha She gets her sweet moves from her mom... And If you ask yourself why does she have a golf club in her hand??? Well since we moved into our house she has to have one by her or with her at ALL times...I wish I was kidding! She even sleeps with them!! She tells Todd and I there are monsters outback and she is scared. Uhh ya a little freaky! We did a couple things to 'fix' that and she is still a little freaked about noises and she still sleeps with the clubs..Oh well. Well hopefully my other updates will be more cheery and happy and more me but for now, I miss my family, I miss my friends, I really miss my nieces and nephews and sweet sis in laws. I miss my home, AZ will always be our home and hopefully someday (soon)we will be back.. I am a little bummed I have to have a baby in UT. I wanted all my kids born in AZ.. Todd wont let me come down to have it, plus that's a little irrational!! (I have till feb to convince him..)Haha Depressed yet?

1. Curtis comes home on Thursday. To say I am excited would be a severe understatment.

2. Halloween is coming super quick! YAY! My fave holiday! Well Mykah and I love it. Todds fave is christmas.. wink wink.

3. Mykah wants to be an owl. 'Wants' is used loosely she feels she needs to be an owl! Where am I supposed to find an owl costume? Help?!

4. I just found a massive widow spider by my front door. I know who will be deep cleaning/checking every inch of our house during nap. They massive creep me out! Gross...ugh

5.Curtis come home in 2 days.....

6.Dinner. ...Pancakes. Pancakes are always awesome.

7.Curtis gets to meet Mykah for the first time!! Yay again!

8.Laundry.

9. When you ask Mykah her name she will respond 'Shara'. That probably needs to be fixed. Work on that.

Stop buying them. REALLY.
I have discovered so many ways to clean, deodorize, and disinfect my home with out buying the nasty chemical-ized cleaners. Mykah has been a real eye opener to me. As in I think a lot about what I do and how it affects her. I use to see a newly scrubbed bathroom and spik n span. That same bathroom is now "chemically" and really, every time I use Windex I get a wicked headache! So I did some research on natural cleaners. I cant even to begin to tell you about all the ways you can use ; Baking Soda, Vinegar, and Essential oils.
The amazing benefit? I can clean my home knowing that I am not breathing(we are not breathing) harmful chemicals. Oh and talk about CHEAP! Cha CHING! Vinegar and Baking soda are uber cheap! So I suggest you google some more about this! Here are my little tips!
Fabric Softener: Add to rinse cycle instead of Downy. I just fill my Downy ball with it! If you use a good smelling(i use a lavender soap) it will intensify the smell and I SWEAR your clothes will not smell like vinegar! My husband about died watching me do this the first time! Haha
Floor cleaner: 1 cup vinegar, 1 gallon warm water.(i have vinyl floors and this works)
Tub cleaner:I sprinkle Baking soda that has a few drops of eucalyptus essential oil in it. Scrub and rinse.
Windows& Counters: Vinegar,water,few drops of essential oil(lavender,tea tree, eucalyptus..)
Bathroom: Vinegar, water, borax, shake well until borax dissolves. Ok in reading this I realized I had all three these ingredients.. Um I don not add vinegar and Borax. Just Borax and water and a few drops of tea tree oil! SORRY! So no vinegar! I am a crazy girl somedays!
Deodorizer:Sprinkle baking soda on carpet, keep it on 30mins, vacuum.
There is also some great recipes for homemade laundry soap, I have yet to try! It comes out to be like .03 cents a load!! I am dying to try it! If I could just find a store that carries WASHING SODA! any one?? I cant remember the exact measurements on these cleaners, I just kinda make em the day I clean! Hopefully I have peaked your curiosity of the other natural, cheaper options out there!If you have any great tips I would love to hear them! Happy cleaning!

I am totally pumped about this new book series I have been reading. Its "THE GREAT AND TERRIBLE" by CHRIS STEWART. It is amazing and I dare to say I like it far better than TWILIGHT. yep I do. I always have a twinge of guilt for putting my life on hold for vampires..It is a series of 6 books, I am on the 5Th and I guarantee this series is just as addicting! It is written by an LDS fellow and is a fictional series about the last days. Let me just say I have never read a fictional story that has made me think so hard about the events going on in this world, and at the same time given me a better understanding of the gospel, and brought me closer to the spirit. I will never be the same because of theses books. That are just that great. They are fiction but.. well you just gotta read them to understand. PLEASE I am DYING TO HAVE SOMEONE TO TALK TO ABOUT THEM!!!!

So after dinner last night Todd and I head upstairs to give Mykah a bath. We get up there and it is hot! Maybe its just us.. yeah.. NO. My mom and sister say the same thing. We take a look at the thermostat and it has not budged of 80. (My mom set it at 77 earlier) So we figure ok we can handle this, lets blast some fans. We finish getting Mykah ready for bed and put her down. An hour later she is still up, sweaty and pink cheeked. crap. An hour later and we are showered and all tucked into bed ..the 3 of us. Oh rolling-kicking-random sit up and laugh-thing that I call my daughter, I still love you. We get dressed and eat breakfast and heard to Wal-Mart. Grab some essential, Mac n cheese, ice cream sandwiches, rice crispy treats cereal, face wash... I get to the checkout and realize I dont have my debit(waiting on my new one old one got washed AND dryed)crap pretend to have forgotten something and bolt to asses my wallet.. 10 bucks in cash.. and my credit card. SO I run back and pay..I hate no, I loathe using a credit card. I thought about abandoning my cart payed and left.

Get home water the garden and put the dogs on the side of the house so the air conditioner guy doesn't have to deal with 3 shar peis. After some massive moving and lifting I think Ive got them blocked. An hour later still working on blocking them in. Damn dogs. Mom, I think we should donate them to the pound or butcher em. Needless to say the dogs kept escaping and the air upstairs never got fixed. No air upstairs means no nap for mykah. No nap means ..ugh I need a ginormous bowl of rice crispy treat cereal.

I am not a very 'monumental mom'. I never went and got newborn pics, we never did the maternity belly shots marking my 7week/ 20week/36week ...and so forth. I am not the best at marking when Mykah did this silly thing or that. A little part of me wishes I would have been better but ya live and learn! I have to even take a second to think about how old she is when someone ask! Gosh I am sounding pretty bad.. On the up I am loving having this sweet baby girl in my life. We love having a daughter.. How did I ever get through a day without her!!? She is all girl. ALL GIRL. All lipgloss wearing- fit throwing- booty shakin'- laundry helping- makeup wearing- Yo Gabba Gabba lovin- tantrum throwing(said that uh? well she throws those A LOT).. oh the drama! She is such a little momma. When I do chores around the house she is right there helping, where there is a baby she is on it! Oh man oh man she loves 'poo poos' (thats baby to her). Somedays I almost want another.. ALMOST. We will be driving in the car and Mykah will be in her seat making it known how much she 'loves' the car and I will explain to her where we are going and she will say 'jes'(yes) she wants to go and just stop. Like that. Such a silly girl! I never imagined all the work being a mom would be, but its by far the best job I ever had. EVER.

These have NOTHING to do with cake batter.. Unless you count that she just helped me make some of these yummy cookies mentioned below! However.. I just wanted to point out the little pony on top of her cute little head she is finally letting me do on good days. Oh and I loved how cute her fat thighs looked with her leg warmers(note the tile floor.) Mykah is starting to thin out so I gotta love it while I can! She is getting so big a couple little milestones...She has learned to fold her arms to say her prayers! This girl will sit (most of the time) with her arms folded while we do am & pm prayers. she also brushes her own teeth! Well I gotta go back through just to be sure but for the most part shes got it down! Growing up! Onto the cookies......

Like cake batter.. I DO! Just ask anyone who knows me next to frosting its my fave. So in case you have been living under a rock and have never heard of these cookies here ya go;

Package of cake mix (I like yellow or funfetti, devils food is yummy too)

2 eggs

1/3 cup veg. oil

any mix ins (choc chips, candy bits, whatever)

Mix cake mix, eggs, and oil all together till completely mixed. It will be like dough. Add your mix ins. Cook for about 10-15 mins @ 350 Obviously ovens vary and so does the size of the cookie but I like mine softer so I do about 11 mins!

Our fave combos; Yellow cake & Reese's pieces bites(they are like m&ms)

Devils food cake & choc. chips(I make these into ice cream sandwiches and roll the exposed sides in sprinkles, nuts, mini cho. chips...) wrap in aluminum foil and your set.

Funfetti cake mix with lots of frosting on top.

Troubled times call for a simpler life

We are obviously living in troubled times. A while back(don't remember when exactly) President Packer spoke about the trials we are facing these days in this time, his talk was very frank and to the point. I really wish I could remember when I heard it! However the thing that really sunk in to my soul was how amidst all the chaos it is still a wonderful time to be raising children and a wonderful time to be alive. I cant think of many who have not been affected one way or another in these tough times. We have all heard about the failing economy, and I find it hard some days to find the positive in my own life. I hate those days, but I am happy to say they are coming less and less;) just keepin it real.. sorry. I know mine have to do with things other then just the economy but all the same they are there. Going back to President Packers talk about it being a wonderful time to raise a family... I remind myself of how wonderful it is to have the simple things in life; food, clothing, shelter, my babies tummy full, my family, sweet friends, and so much more. When I focus on the good it always seems "THE LAW OF ATTRACTION"(watch the movie the secret) kicks in and viola I have even more to be grateful for. It is a wonderful time to be raising a family, it is a wonderful time to be alive. Sometimes I am guilty of making life so much harder then it has to be.. but I am finally learning to be happy with what I was given no matter if it pertains to my housing situation or the clothes I wear, or the body I have. My circumstances have not changed but I have. I am grateful to be have such a sweet little girl, a HOT husband who is always willing to help, loving family who has allowed us to stay with them, family who has shown so much love and support, loving friends and sisters who allow me to vent and forget life with.. blah blah blah... Life is simple, its me that complicates it.

Well I have to admit I kinda got off subject. I was gonna post some cleaning tips for Organic cleaners.. Organic cleaners.. being simple.. simple times.. see where I was going.. yea prob not;) That being said now I use my time to blog about being grateful. Cleaners will have to wait till tomorrow. Yes I procrastinate ALL the TIME. I like to blame it on the I still have a new baby.. only now she is 1 and I am kinda not getting by with that anymore;)

Today exactly one year ago I was up walking models house with my mother-in-law Sheila trying to keep my contractions coming. I had woken up at 3.30am with cramping and thought maybe this could be it. Living almost an hour away from the hospital and already having one false THIS IS IT we decided to go back to sleep. After all if I was in labor I was gonna hurt and these did not hurt. Well not much later I woke up again this time we timed them they were a steady 10 min apart. We packed our bags called our parents and headed to the valley. Oh boy little did I know it would take a full day of walking and timing contractions. Sheila and I went to every model houses we could find(at least I felt like it) I wanted to keep these contractions strong and coming! I did NOT want to be induced! Well Todd met up with us later in the day and walked some homes with us. Contractions are stubborn! I would get them every 5 then they would start to space back out! Finally they were coming pretty consistent and starting to hurt. Finally when they got 5 min apart I decided I needed to go home and shower and get ready to go to the hospital. Todd and I drove home and I jumped in the shower panicking I was gonna stink like a sweaty dog when I had this baby! While Todd sat in the bathroom counting my contractions. (my family delivers really fast once we get to a six, and I had no clue what I was) SO I dry my hair, screw the makeup! Get downstairs and am trying to see how much longer I can brave it. Finally I gave up! LETS GO NOW TODD and we drove to the hospital. You know that feeling where YOU want to drive cause ya know you could be going faster running lights and all?? Oh I felt it! We waited in the car till my contraction was done then rushed in! Well I must not have been your typical moaning prego gal cause the nurse asked me if we could walk to triage. 'Oh HELL lady I am gonna kill ya' musta been the look I gave her cause she got me a chair 'super speedy'. When they checked me @ 7pm I was at 5 1/2 cm. They got me all set up and an hour later I got my epidural. I WANTED TO TAKE NO CHANCES OF HAVING THIS BABY NATURAL. A little later they broke my water and after 30 min of pushing and a lot of burning down there(ripping like no other) she was here. They layed her on my tummy while they took another 30 min to stitch me up and towards the end I could feel the stitching SO FUN but as long as I had my baby I was fine. We were lucky to have both of our mom's there to welcome little Mykah. Todd and I thought for months about her name. Piper, Scarlett, Isabella, Chloe, were some of my faves and up till right before we had her it was going to be Isabella Marie when we thought of Mica. Of course we changed the spelling. Mykah is named after her grandpa Michael also Todd first name, Todd is his middle. We are so proud that she carries a name with such great importance to us. Mykah is our miracle what better name for her than to be named after her loving grandpa who was a great man. It brakes my heart that she will never know him hear on this earth, nor will I but we have felt him so close with that sweet baby girl that is our daughter. I know without a shadow of a doubt that that girl is very dear to him. We are so lucky to have this sweet spirit in our home. She is such a blessing to us and is so full of spunk and character. Mykah we love you with all our heart Happy Birthday baby girl!

Here kitty kitty. Mykah LOVES anything that moves and that unfortunately means the mean boy cat named Maggie. Yeah "boy" cat named mags. Long story short I got him in 7Th grade thought he was a she (hence the name).... Found some 'un' girl parts had my grandpa who is a veterinarian check her..um him and it was a done deal. Besides I don't know any girl cats who would have the balls to attack huge dogs and this cat can be pretty ornery. None the less Mykah finds him uber entertaining.
How can you NOT crack a smile with that cheesy grin? Love this girl!

Oh yeah I am already thinking of swimming. Well here in AZ how can you not? It get so blasted hot so fast. I have to confess I have always been a 'kini' kinda girl, but now being a mom I wanted a cute suit that's a bit more covered( i will save the kini for Todd and tanning, but dont judge if it still makes its debut!) Anyway.. I went searching high and low for a cute suit. All I could find were these I will call them 'Cancun' attire suits! I mean yeah sure I want my super toned 'buns of steel' hanging half out for all to see...(puh- lezze!) Well I decided to give the online thing a go and tried the Shade Clothing site. I ordered the Balboa top and slimmer bottom in black. LOVE LOVE IT!! I cannot believe I am spilling this seeing how I so want more of their suits, but I have to save!! They do run big( i was a small) but perfect butt coverage and perfect fit! Imagine that an online suit I love, and Mykah will be proud of her covered momma! Gotta make good choices.. most the time ;)

Today the Ensign was stewn in with the bills,junk.. Lucky day. I love when it comes! I sat down with you in one arm and my read in the other. You of course found something more interesting to do(pull on moms pant buttons) While I started to see what great articles where in store this month. Being the sneaky thing you are, you snuck up and would NOT leave my magazine alone! I was getting so annoyed! When I realized something. Silly me. I pulled you on my lap and started to show you all the pictures. My sweet girl your face got that grin when you saw the ones of your heavenly father. I thought uh, maybe I am being biased. The next page had a large picture of the savior. While I was showing you, you bent down and gave him a kiss. That Mykah is why you are my sweet girl.

Well sadly my friends I am not posting about my super fun paddleboat experience. We got to the lake at 10 mins till 7, the boats close at 7. Bummer.. I was actually pulling Todds arm to get to the boats;) So we went and got ice cream(which is always GREAT). Sunday night all of our family came over and celebrated with cake & icecream. It was so fun to have both sides together!

Mykah and I were/are sick.. together. Welcome to motherhood! I have never felt so crappy and my poor little girl.. I cant imagine how she feels! This was my first time dealing with feeling like I wanna die/ having to take care of a sick baby. My hat goes off to moms all over! I never imagined how HARD it would truly be. Tearing yourself out of bed feeling like your gonna die and knowing you have to give 100% to a little life completley dependent on YOU! Luckily my sweet husband helped me out a ton! Taking her downstairs at 2am..she WouLD NOT go back to bed, just so I could sleep. Giving us both dinner, entertaining roo.. all the good stuff. Man I am not gonna lie this momstuff is hard work! Lets just say this has cured my baby hunger;)

Nursing Woes...& Huge belly

Nursing. Oh how I loved it. I am proud to say I made it 9months plus. We had lots LOTS of issues at first. I will spare you and not name them... Oh heck I will its gonna get graphic/ honest so beware! OK first we had latching issues, I think about everyone who came to the hospital knows this or saw this(embarrassing now).;) I got thrush not once not twice but 3 times. I pumped blood on several occasions.. not just a little like 2 oz worth!! yucky! Got several blisters and mastitis.. Not to mention what my "nursing tools" look like now!! But I was so proud for making it through.. I loved the time it gave Mykah and I am sad to see it end..On the upside I lost that extra weight nursing held on to for dear life.. AND now... Ta DA! I can fit in my skinny jeans!! Oh now if we can figure out this extra skin.. ALL this extra skin! Not that any of you care! I just had to tell someone!

Dear Nadya,

What the hell were you thinking? 6 kids, pregnant with 8? At any point in time did you maybe think enough was enough? Seriously, now your asking for donations? Your poor kids are going to suffer because of your actions. That is simply not fair. They should make a law cause of you and it should go like this;

If a person is collecting disability they cant undergo pricey fertility treatments.(how are you paying for these??) A person cannot have 14 children if they have no job, no home, no father, and pretty much NO way of supporting them or their children. Well obviously I am not a law maker.. But seriously? I normally try not to judge, however this is just insane! You are in grad school so I hope you get a kick-a job, oh and it wont hurt to marry rich ;) Just my two cents I think 14 is plenty..... By the way, you way topped Angelina Jolie.

Homemade Baby Food...

Eat out of a jar? ABSURD! That's what Mykah thinks. She will not touch jar food... I swear is this normal? So out of desperation of her only drinking bottles.. SNUBBING her nose up at any BABY FOOD I offered I have resorted to making my own. WHICH SHE ACTUALLY EATS! (Ooh I frigging swear!) Surprisingly its fairly easy. Thank goodness or this would be an add for a frigging FREE baby! Its good to now she is getting straight up FRESH stuff! Some of Mykah's FAVES: Mangos,Blueberries,Pears,Green Beans,Carrots. Boy howdy, this girl keeps me on my toes! Oh I just noticed I did not post how I make it.. so if you have any ?'s just ask!

Merry Christmas

It was Mykahs first Christmas, and Todd's first year to be 'Santa". If you know Todd you know how much he LOVES Christmas... just ask his family! I think he was more excited than Mykah to wake up and watch her open presents. (OK OK it was me who opened Mykah's presents early not Todd. Ill try not to mention the fact that the presents were not even under the tree for 4 hours before I opened them. Yes that is right I could not even wait for 4 hours. So Todd had to hide the presents from me so I wouldn't open all of her presents before Christmas. Yes he hid them in a locked closet. Just ask Lauren she will agree to this.) Little did I know I would get one too! Todd surprised me with flowers.. It was so sweet he had a cute little poem to go with them oh I love that boy! Well anywhoo here is the princess Mykah enjoying her first Christmas....
It took her no time at all to figure out that under all the ugly paper was some pretty rad stuff!

Mykah and Santa

Christmas eve we spent with my Dad's side at my Aunt and Uncles house. Every year we eat clam chowder and chat and the last couple years Santa has made an appearance! Mykah and Dax, Tayler and Caden loved him! Paityn and Carter thought he was a bit scary! I am betting next year Mykahs not so fond of him!

P.S. - The writing in red was Todd! I went to change Mykahs Diaper and Todd came in and said "oh no no! That is not how it went down!" He took it upon himself to write his comments. So while he is standing over my shoulder I have to leave his comments there! It is a family blog! Yes I was naughty, Yes I learned my lesson! (No I did not learn my lesson. I do this every year!)He married a peeker, aren't we all guilty of peeking?(no only shara peeks!)

Well Last weekend was super busy! I decided last minute to make some things for a boutique. Man I don't know what I was thinking! I had two days to finish all my clips and headbands. It was my first boutique and I was really happy with how the finished products turned out. The name I decided on for my flowers is Posh Petals. However, after doing all that work I decided I would rather stick to just making them for fun! Figures.

yep that little white pup in the pic is my daughters new favorite thing. Mykah loves that stinking little white dog with all her little heart. She is so sweet to him, he takes naps with her goes shopping with her and last week he made an appearance at church with us! When she gets fussy we just whip out Farley and she is happy! That's what I get for saying how good she has been with not getting attached to things! Anything for you Mykah!

What we have been up to...

It seems like all I post about is Mykah! Then I think about it and all I do is Mykah! So here is what we have been up to.. Mykah started rice cereal on her 6 month mark and LOVES it. She feels like such a big girl eating food now! As you can see she is not the cleanest eater and I am not the cleanest food feeder so we make for a good messy team!

Mykah and her stares. She is so serious when she wants to be, but she keeps us laughing all the time. Oh and a while back I blogged on how I could not get Mykah to nap well I found a way. I mentioned Babywise and how I had just started. Well it is amazing! AMAZING I cannot praise it enough. It has made such a difference in her demeanor and her sleep. The last two nights she slept right through! Which for her is massive improvment! Let me tell you this girl has a habit of waking like up to 3 times a night.. after 6 months of doing that you get insane! So hopefully she keeps it up. Nap times are great, in her crib she goes and she is out! 2 times a day for about an 1 1/2 or longer! I love it I feel like I can finally get things done.

Applesauce and Rice cereal. She hated the applesauce at first!

My little Bumblebee. We had our ward Trunk or Treat last night and Mykah was so grouchy so none of these pics show a smile:( (I will get better ones on halloween!) The antennas kept poking us in the eye making us crack up! She kept seeing the little yellow balls and tried to grab them! Therefore making her head move like crazy and continuing to whack us! My sweet daughter,

Oh where Oh where does the time go? As I box up itty bitty socks, little nightgowns and all sorts of bitty baby things I am realizing you are growing up. Oh its a harsh reality, one I am not yet ready to face. It seemed like an ETERNITY to get you here. In our eyes you are truly a miracle and we feel so blessed to have you in our lives. What was one of my hardest trials produced one of my biggest blessings. You. I have a testimony that "Our time is not always the Lords time." Before I realized this truth though, my heart would just ache when I saw a pregnant girl. Every girl around me was pregnant, just had a baby, or had a family. For some time it hurt I allowed these thoughts to hurt those around me. I became very angry. I wanted so badly to experience pregnancy. I was so absorbed in what I did not have and how everyone else had what I wanted. It was not fair to me. Why could other girls just WHAM get pregnant but your daddy and I not? That's when I started to gain a testimony that "Our time is not always the Lords time." I would like to tell you that I woke up one morning and realized this but not so. When the Lord finally decided it was our time the 'magical stick' FINALLY said what I had hoped for for a LONG time. PREGNANT. I knew that our struggle was only half over. I needed to get this baby here safe. At our 7 week check a hemorrhage was found (i kinda freaked) but they said just pelvic rest and it should dissolve. At our next check up which was only a few weeks later the hemorrhage was huge it grew to 7 cm! That was like bigger than your precious body! Now they gave me bed rest, no work no anything just worrying about you! AHAHAH I kinda went crazy. How could this happen it took so long to even get pregnant. I am sad to say my faith started to falter. I prayed and prayed and prayed and I was renewed in knowing that the Lord knows what is best and I have to have faith and truly trust in his plan for me. The hemorrhage slowly dissolved and I had a healthy pregnancy. I loved being pregnant with you. I loved feeling your little kicks and turns,and dreaming what you would look like. I was able to get through the ups and downs of pregnancy, because I knew it was a blessing to be pregnant! I will never forget the sweet feeling I had when you were finally placed in my arms. You are a miracle baby in our eyes and we are so grateful for you. So as you grow from my little baby I once longed for to a big girl that is 6 months old. As I replace those itty bitty clothes with what seem like BIG GIRL ones, I reflect on the past and am excited for the future. So Mykah I hope I can teach you faith and patience and love for this gospel that brings us joy and happiness. I am so blessed to be entrusted with raising such a special spirit. We chose to have you, to become parents. I longed to hold my sweet baby and here you are. I love you Mykah Girl. With all my heart. Stay sweet and true to yourself and always put the lord first in all you do and you will find true happiness. Love, Mom

And the verdict is............Well see for yourselves. I tried unsuccessfully to get her to cry herself to sleep. After about thirty minutes of crying I felt so bad and put her in her swing. As you can see she tried to bail. Ha! I strapped her in tight! It was quite for a while so I peek around the corner and Bella baby was out! YES! SWEET! I was STOKED! I took a shower, put laundry away, worked on some much needed headbands(pics soon), thought about doing some Pilate's, ended up taking a nap. Oh yeah and in case you did not notice... Yes my child is hanging half way out. Did I fix her? Do I look stupid? I left her like that for an hour and a half. Think its sad... You come put her down for a nap! It was so Blissfully Quite. Mykah&Laundry

Okay so this pretty much sums up where all my time has been going today. Like I should totally be doing laundry. RIGHT NOW. But as you can see this came first.(at least I have my prioritize straight) So my question is SCHEDULES. To have one or not to have one that is MY question. I swear this girl came home such an angel. I assumed she would just fall into some sort of routine. Yeah right. I was so young and naive. Now that Mykah is coming up to 5 months(and I have matured oh so much);) I think I better figure something out. SOON............. So I am kinda liking the whole Babywise thing. Only it feels like she sleeps a lot of little 45 minute naps after her 'awake' time, and the whole let herself fall asleep thing....... Yeah I think not. She screams and screams to the point of ALMOST throwing up. I even make sure she is really tired before! I would just like some kinda routine for her. Is that too much to ask? Well now that I think about it I guess I kinda have one.... It would just be nice if she followed it. Surely I cant be the only new mom who cant seem to get things done. I really should not complain cause she is such a doll most the day being happy and smiley. However I would like her to take naps. Yeah naps would be nice. Real NICE!

Mykah was a dream baby when she first came home from the hospital. She would sleep all the time and was an angel. It was bliss. While it lasted....Well lately she has traded her halo for horns!! This girl is so sporadic at naps its not funny. One day there 2 hours long other days 30 minutes. Then she teases us and sleeps all through the night for a week and off and on for another. The next week she wakes up 3 times every night all week! AHAHAH seriously I was not a bad baby so I do not know why I am being punished! So here she is looking all cute! Its a good thing she's cute or else!!! She is not fussy when she is up. I would just like to be able to get something done like LAUNDRY! Oh well! There is always tomorrow. Surely this cant last too long.............

As you can tell poor Mykah was exhausted after going into my old work! We decided to go in today to visit grandma.(my mom works there) It was almost nap time so she was a tad cranky but it was still fun. It sure made me miss work I had so much fun working in preschool then as an aide in kindergarten. All the kids in my old class kept telling me "Ms Shara your baby is so cute" "I love her big flower!" "Her cheeks sure are big" haha It was always so fun to hear the funny things kids say! Now I get to hang out with Mykah all day and I would not trade that for anything! A couple of days ago I noticed Mykah was super happy while I was bathing her.... Nothing unusual right?(she LOVES BATHS)................ Well I keep on washin her cute lil body and I notice a lil toungue keep poppin out to snatch bubbles! My stinkin child was eating bubbles! Now she will not stop she will just squirm till she somehow gets them! So every bath I give her a little on her belly so she can focus and not eat them(I think they make her gassy) and I keep my eye on that lil toungue! SOMEHOW! She always gets just a bit StinKER!

WhOO Hoo..... We survived!(she survived)! We are the proud parents of a smiling, cooing, drooling, 2 month old. Todd and I could not be happier we love all the excitement Mykah brings into our home! I don't know where all the time has gone but we are LOVING every minute! (most anyway)! I am finally getting the hang of this stay at home mommy stuff! Although I am definitely ready for some "play" dates! Any new Mommy's interested?..... Todd has got the daddy thing down pat he is awesome! I should have known, at the hospital Mykah slept with daddy on the pull out almost the whole stay! I am so grateful for such a great husband and my sweet baby girl.

Sunday was Mykah's first time going to church. It was also baby Dax's blessing so what better reason to get all dressed up! I was so excited when I was pregnant and found out we were having a girl. I could not wait to dress her up! She even had little white patent leather shoes and tights with lace on her lil bum! Ok so I made this headband and the minute we put it on she was silently protesting! I know the flower is a bit on the large side.. but it was cute! Obviously she was a bit unsure.

Well this memorial weekend was unforgettable. Thanks to Shawn and Amy, we got to go to Oceanside, California. It was our first road trip with Mykah. Todd and I were so proud of her she was an angel! California was awesome, the weather was AMAZING! We got to go to the beach, be with family, sit around the fire and talk, eat good food. We also got to go to Disneyland! We even took Mykah on a few rides!(she loved them I am sure) It was 5 days of complete bliss. I am now working on Todd to move to Cali. I am sold!

OK so seriously our sweet little baby girl is already 6 weeks old. Which is oh so sad! So these are a tad bit late, but quit complaining better late the never right? Here is a quick birth recap: April 23 we went into the hospital and I was already dilated to 5 1/2cm at 7pm when we checked in and by 10:30 Ms Mykah had joined our family! She came after less than 30 minutes of pushing. I know what your thinking wow that was a fast delivery but trust me I paid a price!! She weighed in at 7lbs and 4oz. It was such a relief to finally have her here! We fell in love with her the second we saw her. She is absolutely perfect! Everyday she is here we fall more and more in love with her sweet little spirit!
